6 Ways To Refocus Right Now
Posted by Adam Jelic on
If you’re feeling scattered as you jump from Zoom meetings, to emails, phone chats and everything in between, while working from home - you’re not alone.
It sucks to feel unproductive but the good thing is, once you identify and acknowledge what you’re feeling - you can take these simple steps to readjust and get back into the zone.
1. Take three deep breaths and clear your mind
While deep breathing is important for overall body health, it’s an awesome tool to ease and de-stress the mind. Wherever you are right now, close your eyes and breathe in and out deeply through your nose three times. You’ll instantly fill your body with oxygen and feel more clear and alert.
2. Play your favourite tunes and get into the mood
Many people find listening to music helps them concentrate, especially during creative tasks. But if you’re not one of these people, give yourself a break for a couple of minutes during the day to listen to a song that you can’t help but sing along to (Our pick? Come and get your love by Redbone - classic, we know). It will release those feel-good endorphins and bring you back into the moment quick smart!
3. Go outside for some fresh air
Getting out into the fresh air is a total no-brainer for increase in focus, but it’s the movement aspect that creates happy energy within your brain in the form of dopamine, serotonin and noradrenaline. This means your mood will skyrocket and you’ll feel re-energised. Despite the restrictions, it’s okay to go for a walk around the block to clear your mind or do a workout in your backyard - get your sweat on!
4. Skip the sweets and drink water instead
Your brain requires energy which is why you might often feel the urge to reach for something sweet mid-afternoon (yep, guilty!). But have you ever thought that maybe your poor brain is just dehydrated? If water isn’t enough, try sipping on some uplifting herbal tea like lemongrass & ginger or a herbal chai to give you a little boost.
5. Switch it up and change your environment
Although our movements are restricted, we can still switch up our environment - take your laptop or notebook to another room or a sunny spot outside to boost your creativity. A scene change can quickly spark your thought process again and give you an added spurt of motivation.
6. Break down your work into little steps
Looking at your never ending to-do list can be really overwhelming, so try focusing on three main tasks each day. Within each of these tasks write down all the little things you need to do to complete them and tick them off as you go. The power of progress will kick in and you’ll realise you’ve actually achieved a lot!

If you’re focusing on comment marketing as a reputation and branding effort, you can place more importance on popularity and relevancy, and less importance on the ease of the click-through. Examples for a search company might include
The obvious way to do this is to use an RSS reader. Personally, I like to use Hootsuite for this. I create a separate tab that houses my RSS feeds so I can glance at them whenever I check my other networks and leave a comment early on a new piece of content.

Most Internet marketers treat commenting primarily as a link building tactic (spamming, basically) and don’t really give it a fair shake as a real marketing tactic.
But true comment marketing is about sharing meaningful opinions and thoughts in a forum of like-minded individuals in order to encourage interaction, make connections and earn exposure.

The category twos I’m talking about are people who say something like “this gave me a lot to think about.” Sure, on its own, it’s a garbage comment. However, it’s also an opening. Why not respond with something like “what are your thoughts in particular? How does this apply to your situation?” If they don’t come back and respond within a day or two, you can delete the comment chain. If they do, hey; new conversation!
As for category threes, they’re generally great ways to start conversations and build engagement. Respond to them as you see fit, just avoid pulling a reverse category two and saying “thanks for the comment.”
