Living by the motto, be the best you can be, three-time Olympic Gold Medalist and world record-breaking swimmer, Steph Rice is renowned as one of Australia’s golden girls. Someone who has set tall goals from a young age, Steph knew she wanted to be an Olympic swimmer at just four years old. To this day, the recently-retired athlete hasn’t stopped dreaming big and working hard to make her dreams a reality. We had a chat with Steph to find out how she sets goals and exciting projects she has been working on post-retirement.
What are some exciting projects you're currently working on?
I've launched my business, RACERiCE which I’m very proud of. The swimwear for kids arrives in August so I’m really looking forward to sharing that with the world and growing myself as an Entrepreneur.
Life is a journey and there are always lessons to learn. Some bigger than others and some that require more attention and time. Since closing out my career as an Athlete and moving into the business world, there have been many changes and transitions to go through … too many to share in just a few words. That is why I love my social media channels, as it allows me to share moment by moment, feelings and lessons and I find my community online really engages with the depth of wisdom I try to share.
Tell us a bit about your journey to get to where you are?
How do you set goals?
I know very clearly in my mind what I want and I have a wonderful imagination to visualise what that looks and feels like. I do dedicate time to meditate and just lie down for 15 minutes a day to allow myself to think about it express gratitude.
How do you deal with roadblocks?
I have gratitude for the insight that things aren’t working out and that there are better options and opportunities down a slightly different path. I like to analyse why there is a roadblock and what I need to learn from the situation.
What’s one habit you credit with getting you to where you are now?
Focus and having such clarity on my goals. I am very decisive.
What keeps you awake at night?
Generally, just my mind and thoughts. I don’t often fall asleep fast because I'm always thinking through plans and analysing events or daydreaming about my goals. I love that!!
