Nik Mirkovic of Hi Smile is a Goal Digger

It's the brand that sells oral hygiene and teeth whitening products founded by Nik Mirkovic and Alex Tomic in 2014. With most of their friends moving on to complete university Nik and his business partner Alex went on to start HiSmile after analysing a few different e-commerce industries. After studying particular market trends for a number of months, they found that the oral hygiene and teeth whitening space lacked a standout brand. With ambitions to create a globally recognised brand and with $20,000 of their own money to invest, the duo utilised their understanding of consumer behaviour and market trends to launch the global teeth whitening brand HiSmile. The brand has been promoted by influencers Kylie Jenner and Connor McGregor with their sights set on reaching $40 million in sales by the brands third birthday in December.

We spoke with Co-Founder Nik Mirkovic who shared his daily routines and how keeps motivated and inspired. 

What does a day in the life of Nik Mirkovic look like?

I like to get up early and check my emails and social media accounts, then start my day off with some kind of exercise and a good breakfast. I head into the office at around 7:30/8am and generally leave at around 5 pm. My day always consists of something different; meetings, thinking of new ideas, testing products, creating content for my personal brand, etc. I leave the office and head to football training at 6 pm and get back home by 9 pm. Finish off the day how I started, with a good meal and checking emails and social media accounts.

How do you keep productive?

There’s so much going on and always something to do. What keeps me productive and focused is my drive and long-term vision for both the company and myself personally.

Tell us about your goal setting process

I set short-term goals on the go. If I achieve something or have an idea, I naturally start to visualise where that will take the company. I never limit my visualisations and goals, for me, it’s always about picturing the absolute maximum potential.

What is something you wish someone had told you prior to starting your business?

Nothing really, there isn’t anything about my journey that I would change. I learn best by actually doing, so I feel that if I had listened to a piece of advice prior to starting HiSmile we wouldn’t be where we are today and I wouldn’t be the person that I am.

What do you do when you hit a roadblock or things aren’t going as planned?

We always keep moving and innovating on our own terms. That means being proactive and reactive to the market the same time. Even when things are going extremely well we don’t like to put our feet up and forget about it. The market changes so quickly and it’s important to stay on top of it and not wait for things to not go well.

What are you inspired by?

I’m inspired by my own goals and the vision, It's what pushes me forward.

Do you have a favourite quote or saying?

“Listen to yourself”.

In life, you’ll always have people giving you advice. I think it’s important to listen to everyone’s advice, but make the final decision based on what you truly want to do not because someone told you to do it!

What is your vision for HiSmile?

For HiSmile to be one of the Top 5 brands across all industries around the globe.

What goals are you working on for the remainder of 2017?

We’re looking to reach 100,000 subscribers by the end of the year.
